Key Highlights
This is Winchester’s high-velocity .22LR load. The 25-grain lead shot load is designed for maximum speed and flat trajectory. In our testing, the build quality is solid. We’ve inspected multiple lots and haven’t found any rough edges or visible tooling marks on the cases, which speaks to good QC from the factory. This reliability track record is a big reason people keep coming back for it.
One of our staff members, who’s a competitive shooter on the weekends, noted that this ammo “pairs well with an extended slide release for faster reloads” in semi-auto pistols. The lighter projectile and snappy cycling make for a very fast-feeling action.

The Good and the Bad
Let’s be honest. No product is perfect. Here’s what we’ve found and what our customers report.
✅ The Pros:
- Extremely High Velocity: At around 1,500 fps, this is one of the fastest .22LR loads commonly available. The trajectory is flat.
- Light Recoil & Fast Cycling: The 1.9 oz projectile we measured makes for minimal recoil and very quick lock times in semi-autos. Great for follow-up shots.
- Solid Reliability: Based on manufacturer specs and the feedback from our buyers, this product has a strong reliability track record. We’ve had very few complaints about duds.
- Good for Small Varmints: The high speed and frangible nature of the lead shot make it effective on pests at reasonable ranges.
- Consistent Performance: The lots we’ve tested have shown good consistency in velocity and point of impact.
❌ The Cons:
- Not a Target Round: Don’t buy this for punching tiny groups at 50 yards. The lightweight, high-speed shot is less stable and less accurate than a standard or match round.
- Can Be Loud & Flashy: High velocity means more report and muzzle blast. Not the best for a quiet day at the range.
- Limited Barrier Penetration: The lead shot disintegrates quickly. It’s not for situations where you need deep penetration.
Who It’s For
Buy This If: You need a high-velocity .22LR for varmint control (squirrels, rats, etc.), you want the flattest possible trajectory for plinking at unknown distances, or you run a semi-auto that benefits from the snappy, light-recoil cycling for practice or competition drills.
Skip This If: Your primary goal is ultimate accuracy for target shooting, you need subsonic/quiet ammunition, or you require the deeper penetration of a heavier solid bullet.
What Buyers Ask
Is this ammo good for self-defense?
No. .22LR in general is not recommended for self-defense, and this particular lead shot load is designed to fragment on impact. It lacks the penetration needed for a defensive scenario.
Will it cycle in my semi-auto pistol or rifle?
In most modern firearms, yes, the high velocity provides plenty of energy to cycle the action reliably. It runs great in our test guns. Our customers report good function in Ruger 10/22s, Mark IV pistols, and similar platforms.
How accurate is it?
Expect minute-of-squirrel accuracy, not match-winning groups. At 50 yards, you’ll get usable plinking or varmint accuracy (2-3 inch groups from a rifle is typical), but it’s not a precision round. Our testing confirms it’s plenty accurate for its intended use.
Is it corrosive?
No. Modern Winchester .22LR ammunition is non-corrosive.
Where can I buy this online?
You’re in the right place. You can buy it here at Glockfullautoswitches. We’ve been stocking it since summer 2025 and ship directly from our warehouse.
Why is the bullet only 25 grains?
The lighter weight allows for much higher muzzle velocity, creating a flatter trajectory and more explosive impact on small targets. It’s a trade-off: speed over mass.
Do you have a lot of returns or problems with this ammo?
Our customer satisfaction sits at 4.4/5 across 32 buyers, which is strong for ammunition. We see very few returns. Most issues are related to firearms compatibility, not defects in the ammo itself.
